Linton-Stockton Middle School and High School Students meet some Fridays in the Miner Hub during lunch hours. These student assistants have the opportunity to run the camera during our broadcasts and sometimes appear on air.
We are excited to watch not only our group grow in numbers, but these students grow in responsibility and learn a little about broadcasting too.

A number of our Broadcasting Students attended Kevin’s official retirement party on November 19 at the Greene County Fairgrounds. (Although he retired on July 7, 2020 after 40 years at WTHR-13, it was a delayed celebration with family, friends, and co-workers).

Question and Answer regarding the Miners Broadcasting Club:
Question 1:
What has been your biggest joy as a being a Miners Broadcasting Club Student?
Braden’s Answer:
“My biggest joy as a Miners Broadcasting Student Club Student is getting to work with Kevin and Heather. Ever since our very first game we test broadcasted, they have been a joy to not on work with, but also grow to be close friends with. The countless laughs, shared meals, and memories made are things I will never forget. As their very first MBS student, I was glad to be their little “guinea pig” when it came to doing things with the club. I have learned lots when it comes to broadcasting, PA, announcing, and the technical side os things.”
Question 2:
What would you say to others who might want to join the Club?
Braden’s Answer:
“I would tell others who want to join the Club to DO IT! Being a Miners Broadcasting Student Club is a once in a lifetime experience that not every student or person gets the opportunity of being a part of. If you really want to go into broadcasting or any sort of public affairs after high school, this club is the perfect place to get to be a part of something like that.”
Question 3:
If you have worked any games, what did you take away from the experience ?
Braden’s Answer:
“In the countless games and events that I’ve helped broadcast and assist in many different ways, I’ve taken away the fact that the possibilities are endless. From when I first started, I never knew the extent of the things I would be doing, the skills I would learn, and the people I would meet from doing these things. I would definitely say that something that surprised me by also does not surprise me, is the extend to which Kevin and Heather go to provide a professional and top-of-the-line broadcast to the entire Linton Miner Community and beyond. When helping broadcast, it made me feel like I was a part of something special, something to be proud of, and more importantly, something that was fun.
It is super fun to get to work with both Kevin and Heather, and I would HIGHLY recommend anyone do it.”
